Which is better for a computer that does mostly word processing,
surfing, photo stuff and plays a few games like COD:

Intel® Core™ i7-860 w/VT (2.8GHz 8MB L3 Cache)

Or for $300 more (affordable if it's a noticeable improvement):

Intel® Core™ i7-870 w/VT (2.93GHz 8MB L3 Cache)

Thanks

I will recommend going with the cheaper chip... in reality, if in 1 year you
want a little more speed, the i7-870 will likely cost less than the difference
you will pay now....

I do not play COD, but I can't imagine the few MHz difference making any real
difference, otherwise the processors are the same...

And, for the record, a $300 incremental cost is criminal... the list price from
Intel on the processors (for bulk orders) only differ by $10..

Both are highly overkill. you would do just fine with an i5.

But, if its just up to these two, take the cheapest one, they're both
pretty powerful chips.

Buy the cheaper one. Or even a i5.If it's a lot less.
Then take the 300.00 you were going to spend on getting the better cpu
and get a nice video card and some ram.
