All I wanted was something like 1 hour, 1 day, 17 years, etc...
Forget I asked anything ever in this group.
Post by DavidWhy do you assume answers like this are simple?
Your laptop will have multiple "settings" for power consumption.
The lower you set it, the longer the battery will last.... but there
are many, many other variables.
Many brand new laptops that are designed for home use have very
short battery life... that sacrifice that to provide a faster
machine, with larger screen and better video card.... I have seen
new laptops with a spec that says under 2 hours... so in the real
world, that's likely 1 hour or a bit more.
If you have a 17" laptop with a powerful video card, you may be
seeing 90mins or so... that would be not surprising to me for
constant use. Even less if you are doing CPU and/or video intensive
stuff...
What is the model/specs of the laptop? Even just the CPU, Video
Card and screen size will be enough for me to give you an
estimate... without that its like asking how long a 9-volt will last
without knowing what item it is powering....

Why would I ever think I could ask a simple question and get a simple answer
Post by JimIt doesn't tell me the battery life.
It says "battery operating time varies depending on operating conditions"
So....I know the battery will last longer if the laptop is turned off or
hibernating
but how long should it last under constant use.
How many hours should a new 11.1V 48Wh Li-ion battery last (in a >
laptop
that is turned on) after being fully charged?
Look at what the manual says... divide by 2 :-)
Its a 48 watt/hour battery. That means it will put out 48 watts for 1
hour. or 24 watts for 2 hours etc. You need to know the power
consumption of your notebook.
