There is a simple fix for the XP Windows Updates if you don't already have
one. I like it because you don't have to install any cracks or mess with the
registry. It should be the same for other OS's as well.

1- In internet explorer, click on Tools, then "Manage Add-Ons",
2- Then select from the drop down menu,
"Add-ons that have been used by internet explorer"
3- Look for & select, "Windows genuine Advantage" & Disable it under
settings just below the window.

This will work until Microsoft finds another way to fix it..

You must mean "Windows Genuine Advantage Update Workaround".
Doesn't fix anything really.....just bypasses the validation check by
disabling that particular activeX control.
Sorry, couldn't resist.....lol, it will certainly work though

; )

I remember back when S.M.A.R.T. was first introduced for hard drives. I
overheard a tech at Computer Renaissance in Fredericton, NB telling someone,
who was seeing SMART errors on boot up, how to disable smart to "fix" the
problem.....I wondered for a time afterward how they made out with
it......lol

Nice... Then again, if you use a non-banned code, you won't have this
problem :)

Is there any way to determine if you have a non-banned code?

Thanks,

You can change your known banned code to a full corporate one witch enables
downloads, especially service pack 2.
