My uncles PC has been getting popups galore. I've cleaned some items from
add/remove programs and disabled some items from startup (with msconfig). He
was still getting them like crazy.

So I tried Ad-Aware, it removed some stuff. Then I tried spybot, got a few
more. Finally I installed a newer virus scanner and scanned, took of 8
trojan files. But still getting bombarded with popups.

Any suggestions.

It's windows 2K

You're not going to like it, but, format and fresh install. I would
not trust any OS once it has been compromised, regardless of the
"scanner" that's been run on it.

Thomas

I think you need atleast 4 of the major programs, Microsoft Anti
Sryware, HIJackThis, Adaware, and i think the last one is SPyBot Search
and Destry or something similar.

Another thing to do is stop using internet explorer unless its totally
nessessary. Get Firefox.

This used to be my set up before I switched over to Linux. Since no
viruses or spyware are targeted at Linux I dont have that problem
anymore.
