Hanging

I've tried four different computers on my system - one connected to the
DSL modem. Three wireless.

And all of them hang a lot. Is this a problem with DSL? I use Firefox
and quite often when I go from tab to tab in the browser, it will hang
(especially if one tab is working on a refresh etc). Sometimes for a
couple seconds. Sometimes for 10-20 seconds.

Never had this problem with Eastlink cable.

Would going to fibre op be better?

Curiouser and curiouser.

Thx.

Sorry for such a long delay for a response... did you ever get this figured?

I would recommend going in to the administrative interface of the router and
look for DSL reconnects.... you should be able to find the log of activity
on the modem which may show this....

I had a somewhat similar issue that I was able to see was being caused by
irregular drops of the DSL connection... I had a bad connection of the phone
line from my house to the pole. Aliant sent in a repair guy who fixed it by
running a new wire from the pole... be aware, if the problem is found to be
in your home, they can charge you for the repair visit.

I have fibreOp now and it is indeed very nice... and am even paying full
price now and still saving cash from my old services of BellAliant
phone/Internet and Bell ExpressVu TV.

Hope this was already fixed, but if not, you can try checking there....

Cheers,

David.

If it's hanging going from "tab to tab" it's not your connection -
your issue is software. You should be able to nav from tab to tab
instantly - even without an internet connection.

It's FireFox. I had the same problem and now I'm using SRWare
Iron(stripped down Chrome). Now it's super fast.

FireFox has become too bloated.

Yeah, as Todd noted, I'm thinking it's Firefox. I was away a few weeks
last month and still had a similar hanging on various wifi/hardline
connections on my netbook. It has improved a bit of late. I know there
have been a number of FF updates.

Maybe I'll experiment with Chrome....

Thanks guys.

FF has way too many updates. SRWare Iron is Chrome but without Google

It's blistering fast compared to FF.

Went to download SRWare from their site.
An ad immediately popped up asking how many cell phones were bouncing around
the screen.
Only way to get away from it was to close out Chrome.
I'll pass on SRWare
